Shangri-la
"The valley of Shangri-la is a peaceful place, taking from the world around it, but remaining aloof from all the negative actions of that world" (Steven Silver).
The term "Shangi-la" was first begotten by James Hilton in his novel, Lost Horizon. This word was used by Hilton to describe a remote place where life was as close to perfection as humanly possible. It is also the name that the owners decided to give to their new home. We think it is fitting!
Designing and building the Shangri-la was a lot of fun because of the detail involved throughout the house (rounded walls, coffer ceilings, archways, etc). If you carefully look at the photographs, you will see the detail. Even though these features took a lot of time, we believe the result combined its' remote location has caused the "Shangri-la" to be discovered!
